Get Discovered

We’ve all heard those wildly entertaining stories about a supermodel being discovered at the mall or on the street. One thing we teach our models is that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Wouldn’t that be lovely if we could just saunter down the sidewalk and someone could make us a star? In the real world, it doesn’t work this way. Even if a recruiter or scout spots you and connects you with an agent, there is a ton of work that goes into the process, not only on the part of the model, but with her parents, the agency and support network assisting her behind the scenes. If you want to become a professional model or actor, make a plan and execute it. The best way to advance your opportunities is to sign to a reputable agency. Aim high but start local. Connect with local and regional agencies first, those will prepare you for if, or when, you decide to break into a larger market. Instead of waiting around to be discovered, discover your potential through self-promotion and hard work. Onward and upward!
